Our aim is to lift the trophy: Rana Naved – Cricket News Update
Pakistan fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rana-Naved-ul-Hasan-c83909, is excited after the Board of Control for Cricket in India allowed the participation of Pakistani domestic club team, Sialkot Stallions, in the Champions League tournament, which will begin in October this year.
“Our aim is to lift the trophy in our first try because we’re hungry for success and have been kept away from this for the last four years,” said Naved while talking to
The Express Tribune.
The 34-year-old pacer has expressed his views after the BCCI decided to resume cricketing relations with the neighbor country. The ties between both the nations were affected after the 2008 Mumbai Attacks and none of the two engaged themselves in any bilateral
series in the following four years.
The Sialkot Stallions' all-rounder however, is hopeful to give an outstanding stint during the tournament as he believes his side is one of the strongest contenders for the finals.
“Stallions have top T20 players like Imran Nazir, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakeel-Ansar-c89546 and myself which makes us a formidable unit and we can’t be taken lightly,” added the right-handed bowler.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions is the most successful domestic team of the country, which has won five consecutive Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cups from 2005 to 2010. They were also the semi finalists in the year 2011 edition and again won the 2012 campaign in March this year.
This is the first time any Pakistani domestic level team will be representing the country on an international platform. Interestingly, the same team was to play in the 2008’s inaugural event, but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attack in the same year caused the exit of Men
in Green from the tournament, along with the postponement of the league.
The Stallion skipper, Shoaib Malik however, kept insisting that the Pakistan Cricket Board take necessary steps for the resumption of club’s participation in the tournament, but the board didn’t get any positive response from BCCI till now.
The chairman of PCB, Zaka Ashraf, however, has now warmly welcomed the good-will gesture of BCCI, and hoped to bring more positive improvements in bilateral cricketing relations.
“Srinivasan called me to give the good news and we also spoke about the restoration of a bilateral series. We might see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397.
