My fiancee had her interview for a K1 visa on July 11th 2008, at the end of the interview she was told that they need to review the papers. She was ask to pay the visa delivery fee and they kept her passport. On July 28th I called the info number and was told the our case has been referred to the consular for FURTHER REVIEW. Does anybody have any information about how long this process will take ? Does it mean anything that she paid the visa delivery fee? I am 54 years old and she is 28, does our age difference matter? Also I had a minor domestic violence charge against me with my ex wife 15 years ago but I understood that if you are filing for the first time that this can not be used against you. If anybody has any info or similar experiences I would very much appreciate receiving it from you.

Thank you very much

Brad

  1. The Philippines is notorious for marriage fraud.  Further investigation is common.  Your case has a number of red flages:  age difference, your prior record, and probably something in the interview tipped them off, too.  As for how long it will take, immigration will take its own sweet time.  If this is true love, it will survive.
