  1. Invest a couple of quid in a flea comb from the local pet shop.  Sit with the cat and a bowl of boiling water & comb the cat then immediately dunk the comb in the boiling water.

Cheap, only difficult when the cat starts rebelling (OK - you mayneed to invest in leather gloves and apron if your cat hates being combed!!!)

  2. Try rubbing your cat with Tea Tree oil in addition to what the other people have told you. Fleas hate the stuff and will run away quick. Also works great on getting rid of lice.

  3. As already mentioned, it is the house environment where your cats will still be picking up the adult fleas from; the eggs will be hatching out at a great rate of knots in the warm weather!

You can ask your local council to treat the house or better still you should be able to buy either RIP Fleas, Permaguard or Staykill from your local vet that will treat the environnment ensuring you do everywhere you can & follow the instructions properly!

    Good Luck!

  4. The reason u cant get rid of the fleas is because they are all over your house!!!   You need to flea bomb, then vaccume.  Get a flea bath that will kill fleas and eggs.

But anytime your pet has fleas....so does your house!!

  5. Flea bombs every 2 weeks for your house for a month. Liquid dish soap for the cat til you have money for flea medicine. Baths with dish soap kill the fleas currently on the cat. Fleas can be immune to certain popular flea medicines. If one doesn't work, try another. My vet recommended Revolution. It turns your cat into poison flea bait- they bite the cat, they die. Works different from Frontline, and has a different active ingredient, so the fleas won't be immune.

  6. Your house has fleas ...or where the cat sleeps..

here is how to get rid of them completely without using poison.

    IF YOUR HOUSE HAS FLEAS….

I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house.

Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX.

Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!)

    THEN VACCUME IT UP.

What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce.

You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles.

FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them.

Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol

  7. Frontline is pretty good and so is Advantage, but you need to also rid your home of the fleas.  Vacuum every room!  Wash all blankets and pillows.  Buy a bomb for them if you need to, just don't leave the animals in the house when you do this, and make sure to shut off all gas coming into the home.

  8. You'll have to continue care for at least 6 weeks. First, take the cat to a vet or groomer for a flea dip bath and a treatment of Advantage. You have to treat the house while the cat is gone. Flea powder worked for me - but you have to follow all this up (minus the Advantage) every 10-14 days until the fleas are gone. You have to treat any areas the cat has been in, carpets-beds-pet beds-clothes-anything the flea eggs could be in. The eggs have a 10-14 gestational period, and fleas can lay eggs within minutes of hatching. It's going to be hard - but it can be done. For now on, keep kitty in the house and you lessen your chances of re-infestation. Good luck.
