our cat was laying down all sprawled out like usual, and i went down to pet him from behind, and he didn't move. and started twitching his paws and tails, and jumping/shaking. i looked at his eyes and they were rolled back into his head. so i started gently patting him, and his eyes came back and he was fine, but whats wrong? my sister said he has done it last week once. but those are the only 2 times. he's fine now.

  1. There is an very affordable medication for seizures in our pets.

Get to a Vet and have your cat checked.

No Chocolate or raisens or grapes as they are highly toxic to all pets and the toxins never leave the body...  so after they accumulate and enought toxins get in the body the seizures begin.

Your cat could have also suffered head trauma...  whatever the cause of the seizure it needs to be medicated

    Good Luck

  2. you should have gotten him to the vet after the first one so get him to the vet right now, hopefully you are already there

  3. Take it to a vet as soon as possible.

  4. You're cat is experiencing a gran-mal  seizure. As soon as the first seizure occurred you should of contacted your Vet. This is a medical emergency. Get to the Vet - now.

You need to get your cat to the Vet now. A lot of Vets will work out payment plans so you can pay the bill off a bit at a time. The seizure may have no cause or be due to Epilepsy, brain tumour, kidney or liver failure, among other things.

  5. I agree that you should take your cat to the vet, BUT I can tell you what they are going to say- You need to keep a log book about how often and severe the seizures are (so go to the vet with this in hand first to save time!). This could have been a one time thing or your cat could be epileptic. Vets can prescribe phenobarbitol to help reduce or eliminate seizures in animals.

  6. it could be a seizure, only a vet can tell. but sometimes a cat goes into a very sound sleep, it takes  lot to wake them up.

cats usually nap, they still hear everything around them, ready to kill prey or fight an attacker. that is why they purr, roll over or whatever when you pet them, they are not fully asleep.

  7. Seizures can be caused by many things, but can be a symptom of a medical condition.  The only thing you can do is take him to a vet and today would be best.  Seizures cannot be cured, but they can be controlled.  And, finding what is causing the seizures is important.

Sometimes, no cause can be found for the seizures and the cat lives a good life with appropriate medication to control the seizures.

I have a cat who has a seizure about every 3 months.  This has been happening for more than 4 years. No cause has ever been found and because his seizures are infrequent he does not take medication.  At the age of 10 he is otherwise healthy and happy.

    Good luck!
