Our cat went nuts! Please help!

Question

My husband had this cat before I met him. When I moved in, he was a very fat but friendly cat. We got a dog, and he was still fine. When I was pregnant, he started acting strange. When I had the baby, he was still OK. Recently, though, he's been peeing all over everything, and he started randomly attacking the dog (jumping onto his back and biting his neck). He swatted at the baby a couple times when she pet him (he is declawed in front). Then, he started biting me! He ran outside (indoor cat) and when my husband went to move him back inside, he bit him so hard he didn't stop bleeding for half an hour! Does anyone have any idea why a 10 year old cat would suddenly start attacking people? I really need help because I don't want a vicious cat around my one year old!

two thoughts, kitty has a mental issue, like senility, or he has put up with all this long enough and just cant take it anymore. you, a kid a dog,GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!

i would try giving the cat a safe room. one room to herself and see if she calms down. put a cat door on the basement door , let her go there to be alone.if not, try a vet for an exam, maybe they have meds to calm her.

jumping on the dogs back, in case you didnt know, is a serious attack. the one spot the dog cant reach. it is not a maneuver used in play.

running outside and biting your husband means she was really afraid of the house. inside cats fear the outside. fear of the unknown.

swatting the kid is normal. biting, or a hind claw attack is used when she wants to hurt the kid. the swat is just a" keep back" warning.

declawed cats tend to be more aggressive and will bite more and harder, their feet hurt so they don't want to use the litter box etc.  being that this sounds like it is new I would get her to the vet to be sure she doesn't have a UTI, and you can then ask about behavior modification with your vet at that time.

maybe hes just going though a stage. give him some time and if it continues call the vet.maybe he can train him again or somthing
