We just got a new dog but our 3 cats really do not like him. They only come out of under the bed or inside the house when the dog is in my brothers for the night. I'm really worried about them because the other night they were scared to come in the house. What can we do

  1. they have to work it out for themselves but you can help. introduce them slowly to each other. I'm sure the cats are curious who the new guy is, and the dog is wondering whats with all the cats. maybe cage the cats first and let them get acquainted that way. let them get all the sniffing each other and growling and hissing out of the way. i warn you and suggest you watch your dogs nose. it will get scratched. been there done that, and the cat won. lol

  2. cats can be picky animals i would let them see your dog and talk to your cats and tell them its ok. talking to my cat always helps him when he had problems

  3. Last year, we introduced a new male dog to family which also contained three cats. The alpha male cat actually ended up running away...

  4. Separate them for a long time until they all become acclimated to their new living partners. Let them meet the dog one by one and see if they warm up to him. Until they do (they should eventually) i suggest dividing your house, condo, trailer, etc. in half. Half for the dog and half for the cats. Give all of them equal attention too.

God bless you and your pets

  5. Take it slowly and easily. Don't force it, they will come to terms with each other at their own pace. Keep them apart for a while, but maybe let them look at each other through a glass door or something. Shower you cats with love and kindness so they know they are still loved and don't have to feel afraid of your new dog. Good luck.
