Our chinese dwarf hamster bites alot. we liked our cambells one that died . how can we stop it from biting?

Wash your hands. They bite if they smell the food odor on your hands!

Buy it some chew blocks.

Or .. i had one and she used to bite but then i read this book that said you are supposed to put a piece of food on your hand so it crawls on and eats it . By doing this it will get used to your smell and wont bite. Also i know this sounds weird but you sit in a bath tub and put the hamster in and dont touch it but let it crawl all over you. Also take it out every night and feed it some treats. Make sure your scent is all over its bedding and cage. It will eventually get used to you.

simple answer is to keep trying to hold it gently (without it being able to wriggle away and fall). the more it gets used to you, the less it'll think of you as something scary/stressful, so would be less likely to bite you.

just remember not to keep holding it every 5 minites, give it a good couple of hours between holding it - and never wake a hamster up trying to get it out of its cage - let it come to you to start with...
