Our class of '08 would like to rent a yacht for one night around New York for prom. How much will it cost?

It all depends on the size of the yacht, and how many crew members will be on board. For yachts, you will have a full crew, from the Captain, to the helpers, to the cooks and deckhands. You also can't usually bring your own food on the boat, so you have to have it catered through the boat chartering business ($$$).  I know for a 90 foot yacht where I live, it's 35 grand for 1 week...so that can give you a price point somewhat.  Prices will vary greatly by location. And also you have to figure out if they even do 1 night rentals. That may be a hard one to do. Why not do a party boat type thing..much cheaper and they're always fun.

You probably won't be able to rent a yacht for a bunch of high school kids, unless you find a company that has yachts for charter. A small cruise ship might be more in line with what you're looking for.

Hold the prom in the gym and donate the money saved to a worthy cause. Turn off MTV and quit watching My Sweet 16.
