Our competer crashed AND WINDOWS

Our competer crashed AND WINDOWS WAS TOTALLY UNABLE TO EVEN OPEN. wE BOUGHT OUR COMPUTER 2-3 YEARS AGO USED AND DONT HAve the original windows xp disk or registration numbers. Are we just out of luck on reloading that software without more cost?
