We are having our first child together and I'd like to get her something small to symbolize the occasion. Since our daughter is due in October I've been thinking about a ring with an opal. (oct. birthstone) Whatever I get her, I'd like it to be something to pass down to our daughter when she gets old enough to appreciate it. I need more ideas!!!

  1. the ring is a Great idea but is your little girls birthday not your wife's , I will give her a nice embroider t-shirt with words from your heart , I tell you what , as a mother of two , I'm sure she will appreciated more this dorky idea , you can give her a present a make yourself a coupon book ( Believe she will remember this ) with Free pass for feeding one night means that you will get up, when the baby is crying not her ) free pass for bathing the baby , a massage ... I tell you why , because having a baby is great but is also very tiring for moms and she will appreciate you so much ,  or telling her I will stay with the baby for a couple of hours you have an appointment in an spa  . everybody always gives the baby presents ..what about Mom ? and when years pass she will remember the coupon book , or how you got up to feed the baby for her to sleep ...Moms remember everything , advice for the labor part ! do not used any cologne , take a shower be clean but do not use cologne , when the delivery pain starts Moms can smell anything and all smells can make her sick ....

  2. To go along with whatever you decide to purchase, how about just a simple, heartfelt letter about how you feel about her and the fact that she is having your first child. It doesn't have to be fancy or poetic but just truly heartfelt. In time you can then pass that on to your daughter as a show of how much her parents loved one another and her.

  3. Oh wow.

I had a baby in Sep. of last year, and my "man" was stealing from me and has yet to purchase a thing for me or my baby or help us financially in any way.

    IN REGARD TO YOU QUESTION-LoL-

I think your idea is beautiful.

The thought alone is amazing, and that idea with the birthstone was a perfect one.

    Congrats!!!

  4. a halloween costume.  dress ur kid as a pumpkin.

  5. thats a great idea.

    jewelry is great.

maybe throw in a trip to a spa.

    lol.

  6. The birthstone idea is excellent, its so sweet :)

Instead of buying a ring, why not buy a birthstone necklace? Then you know that when you do eventually hand it down to your daughter it will definitely fit, whereas the ring might not.

  7. I think that is so thoughtful and a good idea. I haven't seen this in a while because our grand-daughter is 10 years old now but when our daughter-in-law gave birth my husband and I gave her a 14kt gold chain that had a tiny 14 kt gold baby shoe and a garnet stone in the top of the shoe. Garnet being the birthstone for January. So you can get them with any stone. You would have to ask a jeweler about it but my daughter-in-law just loved it. Then two years later they had a son in September which is a  Sapphire so I just got the baby shoe with a Sapphire in it and she wears them on the same chain. It looks really pretty and different. Well that's the only idea I have. But, good luck and I'm sure what ever you decide it will be perfect. Congrats in advance.

  8. I have a friend that bought his niece a pearl on every b-day to place on a string.  You could do the same thing for your wife on every anniversary of the birth of your child.

  9. the day my first child was born..my husband had a necklace with a small diamond heart in his pocket...now, my daughter wears it every day...it will always be special to me

  10. that is a good idea, but to take turn take care of the baby at night will be more than any gift.
