Question:

Our dog pees on the porch...?

We have a 10 year old beagle who has decided to do his business on the front porch, which is driving us crazy. He always pees on the porch & if it's raining, he will poo there too. We have the outdoor green carpeting, so even though I'm deep cleaning the porch weekly, the odor is there & I'm embarrassed to have people over. Any ideas on how to stop him from doing this? Is there anything that will make a dog want to avoid a certain area?

  1. my dogs both started the same thing and I couldn't figure out why until I went to mow the yard and found that it was infested pretty bad with ants (fire ants) which is very unusual for our area. But because of the rain and flooding we had somehow we have them noe. I would get rid of one anthill and another would pop up somewhere else in the yard. Look around your yard and check to see if maybe there is an infestation of some sort. To get rid of odors from dogs use white vinegar and water a cup to a gallon . Then after you do that let it air dry that should do the trick.

  2. you can buy a special type of spray that can stop dogs from doing their business wherever you spray it!

    Good Luck! :)

  3. When you take your dog outside don't let him walk on the porch, carry him to the grass to go to the bathroom. Also there is a product call Natures Miracle, dab a little on a paper towel and rub it on your porch, it will discourage your dog from choosing to go there.

  4. I have a beagle too, and they are very stubborn. I think you should just teach him to not pee and p**p there. If he goes on the porch, give him a stern "no". If that doesnt work, you could lead him to the lawn or wherever you want him to go and tell him to go there. It might be a hassle at first but in the long un it should help. Just make sure he knows your the boss and you dont want him to do his buisnness there. If he doet go on the porch, you could give him a treat and a pat on the head. He will learn soon enough.

  5. My dog does this because he's too weak to walk 3 feet to the grass.  We just pick him up take him on the grass and he does his business and we take him inside.  My dog is 15 years old though so I'm not sure if it's the same.

There are products you can spray and it's supposed to keep dogs away but it hasn't worked for any of the three dogs my family has.
