It has been over a year since our house and garage burnt down and it is still not done! We have paid for somethings our self such as the spa, washer and dryer, fireplace because if they would have paid for it we would have gotten the cheapest item out there so that they could make more of a profit. The items that we paid for are covered in our insurance and we should be reimbursed by our contractor however in looking at our bill we found where he said he paid for the items and I am being charged again. There are also items that we did not put back into the house by choice that the insurance company paid for, where does that money go? I would just like to look at his books so I know where my money is going. Can we do that?

  1. contact a lawyer but also your insurance agent they don't like being over charge either.

  2. Before you do ANYTHING! that may hurt your case, like get into a verbal/physical confrontation with the contractor, contact a lawyer. They can advise you in what can be done to resolve this. It will save you time, aggravation, jail time, and money, in the long run!

  3. You have no right to look at his books.  You do have the right to look at your own checkbook.
