We're moving into a new build property and there is no connection. I've had so many problems with BT, they cancelled our account instead of just transferring it and they've taken £170 in cancellation fees off me for cancelling when I never did. I resent giving BT anymore of my money, worst customer service EVER, are they trained to just transfer people from one department to another ??

erm, I'm ranting, anyway, I want to connect a phoneline and totally bypass BT and also bypass BT with my new service provider!!

I'd be grateful for any help!! TA

  1. You could try going with virgin media they install their own phone sockets, and they only charge £30 for installation instead of the £125 that bt will charge you. Plus with virgin your line rental starts at £11, £15 and £18, plus you can get your broadband and tv from virgin aswell, wich are both brilliant aswell, Go with virgin and you should have no problems.

  2. Found this on Money Saving Expert

BT reduced from £125 to £29.99 until the end of September

Until the end of September, you can get a BT line installed or reconnected for £29.99 - much cheaper than the usual £125. However, this involves signing up for an 18 month contract, rather than the usual 12, and you'll need to make at least ten chargeable calls per month. Having said that, the saving on the installation should dwarf any call costs. This isn't available online; to get it you need to ring 0800 800 150.

Or you can go throught the post office 0800 0920500

  3. Virgin Media? Talk Talk?  If they are in your area....

  4. if you in a cable area, then vm can provide... otherwise BT im afraid (although you can pay line rental etc to another company)

  5. Jah,

Although I do not live in your country, I know ACN has phone service in England. You can check on our World Website by country:

  6. If you use Cable they will install their own cables and telephone sockets.

I've had both BT and Cable and Cable do not use BT lines at all.

    Give Virgin a call

  7. BT have to install the line. After that you can use a different provider for your calls if you want to.

  8. I don't know about if anyone else can install it.. but BT charge a fortune to install new lines.. but there is actually an offer that they are very reluctant to tell customers about.. you have to actually ask for it..!

I don't know what its called but you can get an installation for £29.99.. my friend got it at his house, but had to ask, but the first person he spoke to told him they didn't know about it, but he called again and got it!
