We recently separated our geckos because it seemed that we had a female and a male. The female looked to be getting fatter but her tail was still skinny. The male was dominating the female and as he had grown bigger she is staying smaller. As they have been separtated she has passed 2 huge sacks.

  1. Oh Lordie... the perverbial "can of worms."

Yer in trouble, or better put - your female gecko is.

It's too late to tell you that you should never breed a female before she reaches her adult growth, and is very healthy, at a year or older...

Producing eggs is very depleting for a female Leo.

Yes, she laid eggs.  The trouble is - she is not done yet, even though you removed the male.  She can produce 18 more, from the single mating, in a single season!

"Her tail is skinny" is NOT good!  Her health/life could be at risk now.

I'm going to post a few links here, for general information.  Like all links, they contain good and bad info./opinions.  One mentions play sand.  I strongly DISAGREE with using play sand.  Geckos WILL eat it, and can become impacted, resulting in vet bills, or death.

But, all the info. will now be for the future (if she has one).  Right now, with her depleted condition, I would suggest that you take her to a reputable reptile vet immediately.

As for the eggs (you'll get info. from the links), if you rotated them, you most likely killed the embryos already.

For the next eggs, if you can save the mother, you can study up on incubating them...

    (Shakes head sadly, but understands)

I hope you find this of help.

  2. better bring them to a veterinarian
