  1. In Michigan it`s 450 Feet from a dewelling. or 150 yards or 5,400 inches. This means in any direction at any location. But not at any time because after 11:00 p.m. disturbing the piece applies at any distance. Thank you for the Question.

  2. It depends on several factors including your local laws regarding discharging firearms.  If  you live 50 yards in the line of fire then that's a problem.  If you live 50 yards next door, that's not much of a problem.

  3. I have a 4.13 acre lot (200x900') that I shoot on most weekends. It is rural and legal. I go up there with a small trailer. I hope someday to build on it.

There's neighbors quite a bit away that always call up the police on me. If I am using .22's or air rifles, they can't hear it and leave me alone. If I shoot my 20 gauge shotgun or my friend comes with his antique Russian Mosin Nagant, they call. The police will respond and visit. So long as my weapons are legal and and I'm not shooting at anyone, everything is fine.

If they are shooting at your property and damaging things or shooting at your pets, it certainly isn't legal.

  4. it really depends were you live, were i live(PA) it has 2 be 50 yards w/ a bow and 100 yards for a gun(unless you have that persons[homeowners] insentive to beable to hunt closer)

  5. Are they reckless with their guns?

Are the shots coming your way?

Have they ever caused you any real danger?

Do they shoot at hours that normal people would be sleeping?

Is there a danger of them hitting something or someone in that wooded lot?

    If not whats the problem?

Do Not call 911 thats ridiculous PDs have a business line if you ant to ask questions call that number

Try going over and introducing yourself, they might let you shoot off their deck

  6. As was noted, usually you must be 500 feet away from any dwelling for the discharge of a bow or firearm, regardless of direction of discharge.  These weapons may be discharged closer if permission is granted by neighboring property owners

50yards is well withing this radius, therefore it is illegal.  You could call the police, but then your cat may end of dead or you'll have sugar in your gas tank.

Better yet go over- talk to your neighbor..

  7. Its legal here in rural Arkansas.. but people shooting off guns is normal. If you live in a rural area and these people are shooting on their own property then there is really nothing you can do so long as they are shooting only during daylight.

  8. call atf

  9. I wouldn't intentionally impede someone's recreational shooting, because it can only cause problems. Everyone here has made good points, except for the calling 911. Have you ever shot? You might like it!

  10. Depends on State and Local laws.

Select your state and view the regs.

If you live in a rural area, in most states it is perfectly legal to discharge a firearm. Who measures?

In my state the distance is 100 yards from habitation or livestock facilities.

If the area is a county improvement district you need to check the subdivision's regulations or check with the county.

  11. Call the local police or 9-1-1; say its not an emergency, but you have a serious question about firearms you need to get some answers to.  You do not have to give your name, but if you are concerned about  caller ID go to a payphone or use someone else's on another street.

But as I've learned it depends on where you reside, as well as who the family is you are reporting.  I would just say there is someone in such and such an area that shoots pistols, disregarding the safety of neighbors.  I'm not making a complaint, but am curious to learn is this legal.  {if it isn't, could you plz go to this address to warn them that its not legal!}  [That's just ME! always telling others what to do; the police can't be everywhere 24/7, they need the public to help me America safe!]

  12. Depends on location.

Some towns prohibit the discharge of firearms of any kind. within town / county limits.

Some have a 100yd "clear view" rule which might allow shotguns to be used  as well as specified distances from roads or dwellings.

Even if it is legal in your area , there may be noise ordnances which cover it.

As mentioned an an anonymous inquiry to law enforcement will give you a reading on the statutes.

If the neighbors are in violation the police may not respond unless you identify yourself  ( as it is here) to avoid nuisance or prank calls.

Once had the police cruise by while I was breaking concrete & the echo sounded like gunfire.

Dont know if they heard it or someone called.

They just laughed & waved .

    Best regards

  13. Contact local Law Enforcement regarding this incident.* Also contact your local Wildlife Conservation Officer for a violation of for shooting within a Safety Zone.*

  14. Everywhere is different...... Here in upstate New York you can not fire a gun within city or village limits......... In rural areas you have to be 500 feet or more from a dwelling to shoot a firearm......
