Our new camcorder connects to the PC with firewire which we don't have.What are my options to download video?

Our PC does'nt have firewire is there some kind of converter switch or cable I can buy?

you may need to consider a new computer. It takes a lot of computer horsepower to download firewire at 25mbps and not lose frames. If your computer is older, it might not be up to the challenge. Unlike internet, where data rates can be slowed down to match conditions (ie dial-up), the data from the camcorder is streaming at a fixed rate.

go to best buy the Fire Wire cord is only $30. there are no other alternative.

A firewire card is  very easy to fit and you should be able to do it yourself - but to help you go and have a look at this video :-

Install a Firewire card.  They're not all that expensive, and are available at just about any computer store.

EDIT:  If your PC doesn't have Firewire, buy and install a Firewire card.  Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my original post, sorry about that.
