Our parakeet laid eggs on the metal grate and was sitting on them for a while. We were going on vacation and were worried what would happen if they hatched...so we took the eggs out and put them on some ripped newspaper to make a little nest. But now the mom isnt sitting so we took the newspaper out but she seems to be confused. What are we supposed to do???

  1. Hiya

You should not disturb them once they have laid, and do you have a male parakeet??

  2. Sounds like you didn't provide a nest box and nestling matieral soon enough.

Never-ever move layed egg's from the parents.

Of course she is confused and stressed now.

Most new parents don't know what to do or how to care  for their first clutch. Grate laying from top perch is common, breaking the egg's.

Leave this pair alone and read and learn for the next time about breeding pair's and egg binding and all you need to know.

  3. Do you have a male parakeet also? If not, the eggs will be infertile.
