Our racehorse continually changes lead leg during a race, does anyone know why it doing this?

  1. I've have an ex-racehorse of my own and when I first got him he would always change leads in the canter. It is probably a balance issue and the horse doesn't have the strength to told one lead.

He's obviously more comfortable on the other leg and there could be a number of reasons for this.  A good person to look and see if there is any muscular based reason for this would be an equine body worker.  They perform full body sports massage on your horse and can locate and hopefully resolve all sorts of muscular issues so that your horse can then move evenly.  If you're interested in pursuing this post and I can direct you where to look for one.
