  1. I am not sure but I did read that they (IRS) were going to hold back money for unpaid bills and unpaid child support. If you didn't have any of these outstanding issues then I would contact IRS and tell them you want to know where the other $600.00 went...

  2. How much federal tax did you actaully pay (from your 1040 form-Tax paid after any credits).  SHe might have been stating that your tax liablity only made you eligible for $600? That means that you paid $600 or less in federal tax, if you paid over $600 you would receive the actaul amount of tax paid back UP TO $1200.  Check your 1040 form.

  3. Yes, they could be wrong.

    One of the biggest is that if you have kids, their amount wasn't included in this round of checks.

  4. If you filed married/joint you would have gotten 1200.00. If you have children you would get $300 for each qualifying child.  Sounds like  you got $300 each....dont know your details, but it sounds like you need to persue it. You need to call back and ask exactly what the Tax Liability is!!!

  5. Did you use the calculator at http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/ ?  Enter your info again, and follow the directions exactly on what lines from your return to enter.  One common mistake people make is, when the calculator asks for entry of the line with the child tax credit, they also add the additional child tax credit amount - you are supposed to enter only the lines it asks for.

    Your stimulus payment is based on your net federal income tax liability for 2007, not a flat $1200 for everyone filing a joint return. If your tax was between $600 and $1200 on your joint return, you get back everything you paid. If your tax was less than $600, you get an even better deal, and get $600, even MORE than you paid in. If you paid over $1200 though, your rebate is limited to $1200.

    Your net income tax liability is one of the following depending on which form you filed:

    ·On Form 1040, the amount shown on Line 57 plus the amount on Line 52;

    ·On Form 1040A, the amount shown on Line 35 plus the amount on Line 32; or

    ·On Form 1040EZ, the amount on Line 10.

    If that amount is $600 or less, then you were only eligible for $600 and what you got was correct.  If that comes to over $1200, then call them again, something is wrong.
