  2. Our pool did the same thing and I called the pool store and they told me to put about 4-5 of the bags of chlorine in there or 3-4 tablets, depending on which you use. Run the pump and in a few hours it will clear up.

  3. clorine maybe

  4. First, make sure there is enough stabilizer in your water.  Without it, the chlorine will not stay in very long thus creating good breeding grounds for algae.

Next, shock your pool...make sure it is a chlorine-based shock and not an oxygen-based shock.  Make sure you wait at least 12 hours after shocking it before you put in any algaecide...if you don't wait long enough, the shock will just kill the algaecide and it won't work.

Last of all, add algaecide.  Make sure you are using one with a higher concentration, preferably at least 60%.  You can get 5% and 40% but these types are aimed at preventing algae, not getting rid of algae you already have.  The brand I sell is OMNI, and for that I would recommend OMNI Multi-Purpose Algaecide 60 or OMNI Algae Terminator.  Other brands will have similar products.  Make sure you follow the directions on the bottle EXACTLY or it won't work properly.

You may want to also check your filter.  It may not be working properly either.  Has the sand been changed in the past 3 to 5 years?  If not, you might want to consider changing it.  You can also bring in a sample of water from your pool in an old water bottle into your local pool store.  They can do very accurate testing, usually for free, and tell you if any of your other chemicals are off-balance.

  5. You should call a professional. They have the right product to make your water clear again. My uncle's swimming pool was green too and he just called someone and they came and cleared it right up.

  6. If it is green you need to shock it. But you won't be able to go swimming until after it runs through the filter system usually no less then 12 hours.
