Our touch sensitive lamp no longer responds to...

Question

My touch-sensitive beside lamp no longer responds to touch. I have changed the lightbulb and it still does not respond. I have resorted to turning the bulb tight to turn on the light and then I have to put something on my hands to loosen the hot bulb in order to turn out the light. Do the sensors wear out? How do you make it respond again?
