Our washing machine has really stunk for months. Why?

We can still wash clothes with it, but it smells bad. Like feet. We tried running bleach through it, baking soda, etc. Where's the smell coming from? How can we get rid of it?

well people forget to use these little tablet´s called Calgon, they help to keep the element inside the machine free from limescale. As for cleaning your machine try this run your machine on the hottest setting and add a cup of white wine vinegar, then run the machine again on another hot setting with a cup of bleach.

Yeah, I bet ya bought one of those water stingy HE types like the Calypso or the new front loaders. They smell moldy within the first year. Put "moldy smell in front load washers" in your search engine. You will find it's a common problem. I bought a set and ended up sending them back and buying a top loader with an agitator. I hate those types of washers. I hope they don't start only making those kind. If they do I will buy a couple top loaders and store them so that I never have to use them again. And as far as how can you get rid of the smell...you can't. All you can do is leave the door open all the time and don't leave your clothes in there for one second after they are finished washing or they will reek. I feel bad for ya. I'm so thankful I got rid of mine before I got stuck with them.

~~If it's a front loader and a Maytag brand-your are stuck with that smell, I ended up giving my away because it got so bad! If it's not and it's a front loader, have a repair guy see if the water is completely draining. It sounds as if you have a mildew problem.~~

Always leave the door slightly ajar.  Also a machine can smell because of never having hot washes.  This website can help:
