The former Heerenveen boss has nothing but praise for the 24-year-old winger, and has insisted that the Moroccan ace will take some time to settle in the competitive English Premier League.
Ron Jans, the former Heerenveen coach, has heaped praise on Liverpool winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oussama-Assaidi-c28900, and has stressed that the Moroccan international will be a hit at Anfield.
The 24-year-old joined the Reds in this year’s summer transfer window after an impressive 2011/12 season at Abe Lenstra Stadion. The talented attacker netted an impressive 10 goals while setting up seven more in 27 Eredivisie games for the Friesland outfit.
It was his consistent showings that were one of the driving forces behind Heerenveen’s fifth place finish at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
And Jans was all praise for the highly-rated winger, and admitted that the Moroccan ace garnered interest from several top European clubs after his impressive showings in the last couple of seasons.
“Oussama is very good in one-against-one situations when he's attacking defenders. He was a really special player at Heerenveen, scoring goals and making a lot of assists. It will take him time to get used to the Premier League, but once he gets used to
that he can be amazing”, the 54-year-old trainer was quoted as saying to the media.
Assaidi was reportedly linked with a number of elite European clubs including the likes of Fenerbahce, Fulham and Ajax Amsterdam. However, the Merseyside club managed to lure the former De Graafschap attacker to Anfield.
Jans has stressed that the 24-year-old made the right decision to join the 18-time English champions.
“It was important that he went to the right club at this stage of his career and I think http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 is a good choice. Once he gets used to the club I'm sure he will excite supporters and I think that he and Luis can be two central figures for Liverpool”,
the Dutch trainer concluded.
The Moroccan winger has thus far represented Liverpool in two league games, but the technically gifted attacker has opened up his account for the Reds by racking up an assist in the Capital One Cup.
