  1. It would depend on your time, but three places that I have been while teaching and that I would highly recommend:

    1. Mt. Fuji - Japan, It's a full day trip but worth it.  If you climb to the top, make it a 2+ day trip... but even more worth it.

    2.  Great Wall - China, I liked it.

    3. Taipei 101building - Not of the 3 but you can easily arrange a stop over.  I loved the city and I loved the building.

  2. Both.

But, if you don't have enough times, Japan is preferable.

Kyoto is the best place to know about historic values.

    Have a nice trip !!

  3. I prefer China because I can speak Manderine.

  4. There are a LOT of sites in these nations.

    Cultural center cities:

    Beijing and Xi'an in China

    Kyoto and Nara in Japan

China has too many sites to name! Here are just some:

    - Great Wall

    -Temple of Heaven

    -Terracotta Warriors

    -Forbidden City

    -Yungang Grotto

    -Potala Palace

    -Tiananman Square

    -Suzhou gardens

    -Guilan (Li River cruise)

-Three Gorges Dam (Yangtze River cruise)

    -Many sacred mountains

There are so many regions and attractions to look up if you want to know ALL of the attractions. There's something in China for everyone!

    Japan:

    -Kinkakuji Temple

    -Sanjuusangendo

    -Himeji Castle

    -Itsukushima Shrine

-Atomic Bomb Memorials and Museums (Hiroshima and Nagasaki)

    -Mount Fuji

    -Kiyomizu Temple

    -Tottori sand dunes

Once again, there are a lot of places to go in Japan, as well.

I don't know many attractions in South Korea. Bulguksa Temple looks like it would be nice to visit.

  5. The Asean countries are hot favourites for the European & the American and soon the South American as they heard so much about it but most of them are pretty new to this region of fast economic growth & cultural beauties.  They will take the opportunity to travel cheap, see more, gain more & learn more to compare and improve their societies and us as models.   Where on earth can you see a gathering of fast developing countries at low cost and high gain and within short time.

The added attractions for the well to do types are visit to the nearby Big Countries ---India, China & URA, Middle East.

The Zoom-in Landmarks & cities are: Thailand -- Bangkok - Floating Markets & Temples;  Malaysia --Kuala Lumpur --Twin Towers & Malacca;  S'pore ---S'pore City & Raffles City - Merlion; Indonesia -- Bali Island, Burobudoh & Bogor;  Vietnam --- Ho Chi Meng City & the 007 filming Bay;  Cambodia --- Angkok Wat (World famous place/temple), etc ....just to name a few.

Should be more than enough to see within a short period.
