  1. It is a matter of opinion, but I would say:

    Writing

    Government

    Public works

    Job Specialization

    Religion

    Classes

  2. 1) Public works

    2) Writing

    3) Organized Government

    4) Job Specialization

    5) Social Classes

    6) Complex Religion

  3. Complex Religion (Complex???)

    Writing

    Organized government

    Public works

    Job Specialization

    Social classes

    Have a right-wing day.

  4. They're so very different.  Do you mean ideologically, or in practice? Individually, or for society at large?  I'll take a stab at it...

1.)  Writing - If you said speech/complex communication, it would come first, but as writing is a derivative of this, none of the others would exist without language...written or otherwise.

2.)  Organized government - the larger the society, the more important it becomes for it to be organized.  Without organization, writing/communication is irrelevant, yet it cannot be sustained without discourse.

3.)  Public Works - its existence is dependent on organized government and that which aids in its organization (communication).  A healthy society needs efficient public works (unfortunately, we've cut back on many of them in the US).

4.) Job specialization - aids in the effective implementation of all those preceding it.

I'm torn between 5 and 6...but I'll decide for the purposes herein

5.) Complex religion - Individually important, but it's applications to a society are debatable.  No, we don't have to have the same ideas, and morality doesn't inherently have to come from religion, but I would tend to agree with the argument that society begins to break down with the dissolution of morals...or humanity, if you will.

6.) Social classes - yes the US is capitalist, not communist or purely socialist.  BUT, I do not believe that a socioeconomic hierarchy is necessary for a healthy society.  Communism breaks down in practice, not necessarily in theory; there's never been a communist country (almost said company...same thing) that has implemented pure capitalism...well, that I know of, I guess.
