Nothing like a novel or anything, but like a book of poems. What is the process/steps of getting a book published as well? I'm thinking it will probably cost a lot. Thank you!

  1. Publishing is free unless you do it through a vanity press, but that's for people that are planning on selling their own work marketed to a very specific group of people. For instance, sometimes College Professors will self publish their own text books through a vanity press and sell the copies to their students. If you're publishing your own original fiction or poems you'll want to avoid vanity presses. Unfortunately, recently a lot of vanity presses have been posing as viable alternatives for authors who've been having trouble getting their own work published, but its always a scam. You should never be asked to pay to be published.

  2. A book will not cost anything to get published (unless you decide to self-publish, which I would not recommend.)

  3. If you go to Lulu.com, it costs about $500 to publish a book. They will have a editor check your work for grammar and send you up to 8 pages of suggestions, then they show you typing fonts and styles that you feel are best for your book, then they help you develop a cover, and finally they publish it for you. Hope this helps.

  4. try authorhouse.com I was going to do it but it was going to be like $600 or something to publish a novel. It will be a lot cheaper to publish a book of poems. You could also send it around to some agents and see what they say.
