My girlfriend moved from Florida to California this past February and now she is have quite some trouble finding an affordable college. Out-of-state tuition is at the local Junior College is $201/unit (classes average 3 units each) and we're looking to find a more affordable college option. Her major is Business/Marketing. Any help, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You could also try Florida based Distance Learning (Online schools) such as FMU?

  2. Maybe she could contact a big community college in florida and take online classes there as an instate student?  Since they are online, it shouldn't matter physically where she is?  Def work looking into.

  3. Unless she was going to school in Florida, the California schools probably wouldn't know the difference.  You could just say that you are a resident.  If she was going to school in Florida, the only thing I can tell you is to wait the residency out.

  4. Find out the minimum time you need to be a resident there. Then take time off school, maybe work full or part time. Once she becomes a resident she can go to the school of her choice for a cheaper price and have money saved up for it!
