Out of the big check the drivers get for the Indy 500, how much to they get to keep?

How is that money broken down...who all is payed, such as crew, staff, etc.

  1. Depends on the contract they have with the car owner.


  2. it depends on what place they finnish if there are any damages to the car

  3. according to my brother who works at Ganassi ........the driver gets around 20 percent.........the rest goes to the owner and team

  4. It really all depends on the contract they signed. The percentage varies greatly. The same goes with the crew, shop guys & such. Plus there are per lap sponsors so the a lot of checks can be bigger than the posted payout for each position, prior to the race. That's why the posted "purse" is larger than if you add up what each finishing position pays.
