1. Judo - for competition. Because honestly, this is the most respected martial arts as a sport. In my opinion.

Aikido or Jiu jitsu - for Self Defense. In my opinion, most karate or tae kwon do schools are very unrealistic in self defense situations. Aikdio and Jiu jitsu also trains unrealistically to a degree, but it teaches you balance, physics and the anatomy of a human body (the joint locks and such). Of course, all schools differ from one another, but i'm speaking in general.

  2. best? uuuuuuuuhhhhhh bsetg,hgasevk.aerbgvglkhcrwkuegfuk

  3. So who made this table? I like the use of red and blue.

William I can believe that people will defend their picks with biased opinion. That is really not a hard thing to figure out, though they might think so. haha

I'd have to say I'm not quite sure where the others found their research, as some of the listed studies are somewhat, well, incorrect.

So, what I would like to ask, and you can email me if you'd rather keep it under wraps until the question is over; but is this a serious question, and what's the response you're looking for. I based my initial answer on this being a joke.

  4. Ju Jitsu...

  5. this is gonna sound dumb but here goes, I think that picking a martial art should be a choice made by you not someone else. Do a little but more research then choose whatever one you think suits you the best.

  6. It's easy to find data to support what you believe. It's much harder to find data that is contradictory to your beliefs.

That table looks like it was put together by someone doing a sales presentation on the benefits of Jujitsu.

It's very subjective, and a table like that should be objective.

  7. I believe you already know the answer to that one. Count the yesses and think of what you already know.

  8. Techniques looked the best of those listed, it does everything man.

Does anyone know where I can learn this kick *** lethal martial art.

  9. well I do not believe in a best martial art. how ever I do have to call this chart thingy in to question because it contradicted it's self it said that judo did not have "emphasis on controlling attacker" how ever it was given a "yes" on the section of "pins and ground grappling". You can not ground grapple your opponent if you do not control them. that leads to getting hit in the face until unconsciousness. Also a pin would be considered controlling the person trying to do such punching. now my question on the adaptable to "realistic street situations" lets an unbiased reader know that the creator of this chart thingy was indeed biased. I have never seen a fight were aikido worked nor have I seen one where it failed. there is no proof one way or the other. 25 years ago they said that grapplers would never be able to do there arm lock b.s. on some one who was trying to hit them. well now we know that you can not hit some one who has your arm locked in to a kimura. Also with the success of Karo Parysions judo throws we see that a decent judo guy would be able to easily throw an untrained or even decently trained fighter. Also I know for a fact that many forms of karate involve throws and basic arm locks, just like I had to learn them for Tae Kwon Do and be able to show that I could ACTUALLY use them

  10. Wow... Do you seriously not read the replies to any of the other posts on whether or not a martial art is "best"? Come off it.

Nice table though. C+ for effort.

    Edit:

Actually, I should point out that Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu adds one more "Yes" (to hard blocks) on top of Jujutsu. If you're interested in what really gets the "yes" answers... Only reason I haven't seen a focus on high kicking as well is that the high kick tends to sacrifice power for upward reach (muscle extension + gravity = sad face). And this is the art that people poke fun at. Go figure ;)

  11. Jiu Jitsu is BEST!!!! , yeah I said it!
