Vladimir Guerrero, Mark Texiera, Fransisco Rodriguez

The angels may need to make that decision this offseason! Which two would you choose?

Tex and K-Rod are free agents and i believe Vlad has some kind of an option....but i could be wrong.

  1. Mark Texiera.

If the Phillies got Texiera, they'd have the best infield in baseball, even if they don't now.

    Howard, Utley, Rollins, Texiera

  2. Lets see the Twins have Joe Nathan so no K-Rod Mark isn't really that big so I'll go with Vlad and I guess Mark

  3. Tex and Vlad. Tex is a great fielder as well as a great hitter, and he is a switch hitter. Vlad has an awesome arm in right and he too is an outstanding hitter. The A's need offense, so I would go with those guys.

  4. Definitely Vlad and K-Rod.

Vlad is a really great player.

K-Rod is an amazing pitcher. =]

    Great Question. Here's a star.

  5. Teixiera and Guerrero

Having a great closer is fine, but at $15 million, the money can be spent elsewhere.

Closer is such a wishy washy position, we shouldn't place that much value on it.

Ryan, injured, Accardo (who the Jays got on waivers from SF) did fine.

Ray, injured, Sherril (who was a small piece to the Jones/Bedard trade) is doing fine.

Gregg, a long reliever for the Angels is doing fine with the Marlins

Dempster and Wood traded roles and both did fine in the closer role.

It's not that it's not a stressful job, I'm sure it is, I just think more people that what is widely accepted can do it

Rivera fans, what if Wetteland stayed with the Yankees, would anything with their last 12 years really have changed that much.

Lidge, set up man to Dotel, gets the job when Dotel goes to Oakland, loses his job, goes to Philly and is one of the best closers this year.

Tom Gordon, ok starter, very good closer.

Dennis Eckersley, ok starter, amazing closer

If you don't have 3 or 4 pitchers in your organization at any point that could close, you probably aren't doing your job as GM very well.

Now, if you said Guerrero, Tex or a top tier starter, I would take the starter and Guerrero.  That off year for Tex would concern me for more than $9 mil a year.

  6. K Rod blew that save the other day and has 5 blown saves. Get rid of him. It's a tough one between Vlad and Texeria because they are both exceptional hitters. But if Vlad still has time left on his contract then sign Texeria

  7. Vladimir Guerrero and Fransisco Rodriguez

  8. I would choose francisco rodriguez and vladimir guerrero.  Francisco Rodriguez is one of the best closers and it is tough to get good relief pitchers, just look at the mets.  Vladimir guerrero is the face of the franchise and is a more proven hitter than teixeira.

  9. Yea Vlad is on an option.

I'm not sure how long Lowell is on contract but I get this feeling Theo will make a move for Tex (Ha Yankees can kiss the division GOODBYE!) If that happens, then I think the Angels are going to be out of there.

Vladdy is a lock. No way he leaves. As for the 2 big FAs, it's going to be tough to keep both, especially with K-Rod with this career season. I think they keep Texeira because this team has never had this dynamic an offense in a while. That bullpen isn't nearly as good but this team has arguably the best rotation in baseball plus I still say closers are overrated.

  10. K rod

  11. Mark Texiera and Guerrero

  12. I would have to pick Vladimir Guerrero out of that group.

  13. Mark Texiera and K-Rod.

  14. The White Sox already have a good closer in Bobby Jenks, so I don't think the Sox would need Francisco Rodriguez.

So I would take Vlad and Tex. Tex could play first base where the Sox are weak, and Vlad could take the place of Griff (seeing as I don't like him on the team that much).

But I kind of like the Sox the way they are.

  15. vlad guerrero hes a great hitter

  16. Vlad he is a gold glover fielder and has a cannon for an arm he throws people out all day at home. second, K rod. He is one of the best closers in the game, and the angels need to give rob quinlan a chance.

  17. For the White Sox, Mark Texiera because he is a switch hitter who can also play third (Joe Crede is hurt, maybe never coming back) and because Paul Konerko is inconsistent at first.

We don't need K-rod, especially after his arm is blown out this year and we have Quentin and  Dye at the Corners, I am very happy with that tandem, so no need for Vlad.

For the Angels I'd take Mark Texiera and Vlad, because Mark is a young switch hitter and Vlad is a career .300 hitter.  K-rod after throwing this much might be a risk to resign.

  18. That depends on what you mean by "on your team"

For this year, or signed to a long term contract..  Guerrero is past his prime, although still a great player.

Long term.. I'd take Tex and K-Rod.  Short term, Tex and Vlad.

  19. im sorry nick but how would howard AND teixeira on the same infield work??

i think they keep teixeira and vlad, K-Rod is gone..he wants 15 Mill for 5 years, and the Angels dont want to pay that type of money to him, so hes going to end up in a big money town like NY

  20. Vlad and K-Rod

  21. I say Teixeira and K-Rod. There are other great right field free agents out there, Abreu, Blake, Dunn, Milton Bradley. But there aren't many good first basemen and closer free agents. I also think Vlad is coming to the end of his road. He's getting old and showing some signs of fatigue, whereas K-Rod and Tex are still going strong.

  22. k-rod and texiera

  23. I would take Vlad and K-Rod...no offense to Teixeira but I would rather have some help for the bullpen than take two sluggers...and I will take Vlad over Teixeira any day of the week.
