  1. Check the choke

  2. its because its a johnson, you should get a yamaha, yes its japanese but its better. i have never owned a johnson myself but have only owned a yamaha 25hp,but never has anything gone wrong with it.

  3. It could be flooding, or the float on the carb may need to be set.  More likely, a fresh set of spark plugs can cure the issue.  Even if the plugs look good, you would be amazed how much improvement you can get if your old ones are a season or two old.

Johnsons/Evinrudes were always one of the most reliable outboards made.  Yamaha copied so many pieces of that design, that you will find features in Yamaha castings with no apparent purpose.  It's because they copied OMC designs that had casting features from obsolete designs that were no longer used, but the dies still had the rough features in them.  Don't believe Japanese is better for a minute.  They were filthy thieves in the seventies.  Nowadays, we hand the designs over willingly to the Chinese.

  4. had the same problem b4, probably a bad ignition coil.

  5. Your engine has 3 coils, one for each cylinder. After the engine is warmed up, check for spark at each spark plug.If one doesn't fire replace that coil,if you find that two or three plugs aren't firing then you will be looking at a stator coil and/or rectifier.
