  1. How the mechanic now is dog clutch? do he dismantle the gear box n check the condition? i think replace or overhaul the gear box is cheaper then u bought a gear box

  2. You can likely buy another one for parts in running condition for less than 600 dollars, maybe as low as 25.

Just a point to think about.

If the price to fix it is reasonable then it might make sense,, but usually if it is worn out in one part it is worn out in other parts too.

If it was sitting a long time it might just need to be freed up and lubricated.

I doubt (if you are asking this) that you are interested in putting out the money for a new one.

  3. serial number on motor on top cover by cylindar head, take that # to nearest dealer..... they'll give you a scematic of the engine, year make, model, etc. good luck !

  4. The replacement of the shift dog is a simple job,the procedure varies from one year model to the next but in all cases it is  fairly inexpensive.

When the tec is doing the repair ask him/her to also check the water pump and drive shaft splines.
