  1. The boat will take a motor of 10 to 25 horsepower- you will be able to get up on plane faster and with a heavier load with the 25 h.p. motor Check on the plate that is located on the transom, for the h.p.rating for your particular boat- some boats 14 feet long are not built sturdy enough for the 20 - 25 horsepower motors.

  2. Dumdum, has the answer.

Somewhere between 9.9 and 25 hp.

We have two 14 ftrs. and we run a 15 on one and that is nice for two people, it will move right along.

We have 6hp on the other, and it is not enough, really just a barge with that little engine.

For three people on a regular basis, the 25hp will be a nice choice. And it will pull some small kids skiing.

  3. depends, if you can't find the rating plate..........

less than 3 ft, no more than 7.5 hp

less than 4 ft keep it under 15hp

5 foot width, deep V hull, 20" transom and remote steer, up to 50hp

  4. Up to 15 hp.  4 strokes give you about twice the fuel economy over 2 strokes.  Use the rating plate as a guideline, or try the boat manufacturers website.
