  1. print 5 maps.

give them the 1st map that circles the place that holds the 2nd map

the 2nd map holds the place to the 3rd map

when they get all 5 maps the 5th map should point to the treasure

  2. Um, make it a scavenger hunt!  I think that's easier to come up with clues for.  Do it like you find the clues, then you have to find the prize!

  3. Paper clues in a basket. Look high, look low, some place with water etc etc.....

  4. Depending on the age of the kids I like to make things challenging with a few obstacles. Using backwards written clues with mirrors to be sought out to read them. Home-made invisible ink with some of the clues. Word scrambles. Math questions. Pacing off a certain distance to next clue. Clues that lead to objects that need to be assembled or taken apart to get next clue. Compass and orienteering skills lead to clues. Clues to google answers on the internet. Spice things up with rhyming clues with blanks they need to fill in something that rhymes with...? Even some messy ones like clues hidden in mud or pudding.
