  1. Well, off the bat, you should know that you will be playing on a smaller court and that block touches will count as a contact.  So if you go up to block a ball and touch it, you and your partner only have two contacts to get it over the net.  One of the other tough adjustments players need to make on the beach is that sets are called much tighter on the beach.  The ball needs to come out of your hands much more cleanly (far less spin) than indoors.  Because it takes time to learn how to set on the beach, it is important for beginners to work on bump setting, as their hand setting probably will get called for doubles (even if it was fine indoors).  You also can't set or double a serve.  That's basically it in terms of the major rules.  Obviously the scoring is different, games to 21, switch sides every 7 points, but certain tournaments adjust what they play to in order to meet time contraints.  Good luck at your tourney and understand that the game plays differently and you won't be a pro overnight.
