  1. You realize, I hope, that portable computers were first developed for use on rocket ships.  Thermal survival blankets that many hikers carry were made for astronauts.  More comfortable beds, cleaner jet engines, high-strength alloys, hand vacuums, CAT scans, and home water filters were all developed for the space program.  And that's just the tip of the iceberg.  It would be hard to overestimate the impact those efforts have had on our daily lives, the business world, and the evironment.

  2. Well we can't really explore outer space hardly at all yet.  So we can only mostly explore inner space but there's not much left to explore on earth.

  3. G Where's the dividing line?

  4. Both.  Some people seem to think that doing one thing means neglecting another.  Should a father care for his children or pursue a good career?  Both.  Should a person be involved in politics or in his neighborhood?  Both.

There are over 6 billion of us... why would we not commit a tiny tiny tiny fraction of that to the exploration of the universe around us.  A universe, I might add, that is not separate from us but that we are reliant on.

People say that we should fix the problems on Earth before we venture into the stars, but that is nonsense.  There will never come a day when all of lifes problems are gone....not ever.  Not as long as one man wants what another man has.  If that day were to come we would no longer be human anyway.  So I say we let those that are able, and who are curious enough, to look at the stars and find some answers.  I say we let them do as much as they can to further our understanding of this universe.  Maybe that understanding will have the unintended side effect of fixing some of our problems anyway.

Also I would submit that one of our greatest Earthly problems is our lack of knowledge about the incomprehensibly vast universe that we are a small inconsequential part of.  That is a legitimate problem that some of us are attempting to rectify.

Also, it is just friggan cool man.  Where is your childhood awe when looking at the moon, and your amazement that a few of our species (with the help from the rest of our species) got a chance to walk around up there.... on another world.  Even to drive around in a buggy up there.... on the friggan moon.  Its awe-inspiring.  And it was an event that redefined our species as tool builders to the space travelers.  Think about it.... in the millions of years of life on this planet we and we alone were able to leave it.  The place that countless generations were unable to leave, and couldn't even comprehend leaving.  You are too much of an adult.... you need to regain some of your childlike wonder, and maybe then you will understand how truly important space exploration really is to the human spirit (and mind).

  5. inner space because right know we are going through lots of problems like global warming and wars so before we go to outer space we should fix the problems we have now

  6. The more outward we evolve the more inward we must evolve to coordinate objectively with any activity be it in or out.

  7. All is one and all works together to feed the true destiny of bringing all into one destiny of finding the answer to the one question that will never be answered, where did we come from.

In that respect, it doesn't matter if it is inner or outer, because both have the same goal in mind.

  8. False dichotomy.

There is no reason both ends can not be achieved.

Discovery is a natural human instinct.

Why should we deny it for the sake of material comfort?

  9. too late was the question!

We've already looked too far outwards, the inner spaces will all be cloned spaces not originals befere we learn to value them.  and we are truly looking inwards for the first time in millennia ironically just in time to truly understand the damage done.
