Outfielder Alfonso Soriano open to talk to New York Yankees – MLB Update
The Chicago Cubs talented outfielder Alfonso Soriano has once again showed eagerness to play in the New York Yankees roster if a potential trade happens between two major franchises.
“I don’t know if they want to call or not, but if they call for me, I’d have to think about it, I don’t want to take a quick reaction and say yes or say no. I’m 37 years old, so I have to think about first what’s good for me, my team and my family. That’s
the team that opened the door for me in the big leagues,” said Soriano, who has two years and $36 million remaining on his contract with the Chicago Cubs.
Alfonso Soriano added explaining his views regarding the potential trade to Yankees, “In this game, I don’t like to say no, I’m feeling comfortable here and with this group, the young guys. I’m feeling comfortable here, but we’ll see what happens.”
Alfonso Soriano is a former Yankees player as he played in Bronx back in 1999 to 2003. Now with the Cubs, he is feeling a potential trade happening with the Yankees.
Soriano is a good player and knows his game very well. Even in the Cubs, where he has been playing since 2007, is showing great commitment. Before joining the Cubs, he played for Washington Nationals and Texas Rangers as well.
At present with the Cubs, Soriano also knows that he has still two years on his contract, but if the Cubs do trade him, the one team he would love to play is the New York Yankees.
Though the Yankees and Cubs have not even showed any interest to start any potential trade talks, but still many Major League insiders are speculating in the media that both teams have certainly great aspirations for trading some of their big players to
create room for over-head salaries.
Meanwhile, the 14-year Major Leaguer and seven-time All Star Soriano is feeling quite content with the way things going ahead. Experts believe that the next few weeks are quite crucial in which Soriano’s potential future will be decided.
