Outlaw Torn to sweep the Leicester Mercury Claiming Stakes at Leicester
Leicester will stage the Class 6 Leicester Mercury Claiming Stakes over seven furlongs and nine yards on Tuesday, 5th June. The race has brought together a line-up of ten three-year-old runners.
The prize money for the winner is £1,617.
One of the strongest contenders is Outlaw Torn, Iffraaj’s three-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Touch  And Love. He has raced during the new season for a good ten times. However, it was only through the very recent race that Outlaw Torn posted a win. He stayed deprived of victory for the first nine races of the season.
His penetration into the season was in the Blackberry Lane Handicap on 27th January at Lingfield over seven furlongs. He ended eighth on the track of ten while the race was won by Lana. Finishing the closest to the winner was the 4/1 joint favourite, Illustrious Lad.
He then scored second in the £32 Free At 32Red.Com Handicap on 24th April at Southwell over a mile. The race was won by Fennell Bay who led Outlaw Torn by just half a length.
Coming at terms with the third slot was the 11/10 favourite of the race, Crowning Star.
The best score in the nine races that he lost was the second position. He struck another one on 25th May at Musselburgh over seven furlongs in the Faster Greener Central Taxis Handicap.
Our Boy Jack was the 7/4 favourite winner of the race and led the runner up, Outlaw Torn, by three and a half lengths.
Concluding the race third in line was On The Hoof.
Right after this race, Outlaw Torn captured the H Malone Handicap on 1st June at Newcastle over a mile. Riding with Declan Cannon, he took charge of the final 1 ¼ lengths and beat Dance For Georgie, into the second place.
His last two races and their improved ranking depicts that he has developed into a reliable sort and will not duck down on the positions that have taken him around ten races to become possible.
He has proved himself once and that has reflected his potential of achieving more and better.
