Outlet Malls are there savings to be had or are we just being had with convenience?

I was walking through one last week and didn't really think the sales where that hot unless you go to the clearence section. What have you bought there?

  1. I believe outlet malls are the same as the stores in the typical malls. The differences I've seen are sometimes the actual mall store will ship the merchandise that doesn't sell including odd sizes and colors to the outlet mall store. The store will mark up the price in order to discount it up to so called 60% but end up making just about as much money as if the item were sold at regular retail.  Retail stores make as much as 300 to 400% profit on a given item.

    We as Americans are keyed on the 'red tag' sale regardless of the actual price of the item or what common sense should tell us if the price is actually a good value.

    Stores in the US such as Meijer and Wal-Mart or Target have keyed on this. Consumers have proven that if an item has a large sign on it, regardless of color or even actually on sale or not, consumers will buy it because of the simple perception ...it's signed so the store is drawing our attention to it, it must ba good value.
