Outline in detail the advantages and disadvantages as you see them regarding Freudian theory?

can someone help with this question, have loads of essays to write and this is one ive ran out of time with

  2. I can give you some of the major disadvantages, and I'll leave the advantage section for those who actually buy what psychodynamic theory has to offer.

    Freudian theory:

      1) Cannot be empirically or objectively tested.

      2) Was based on case studies of middle-aged, upper middle-class women only.  Therefore, it has little reliability and validity.

      3) Has not shown to be any more helpful in a therapeutic setting than any other method or school.

      4) And, of course, even Freud himself indicated that he may not fully believe his own theory.  Quote, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

    That isn't exactly ready to be copied and pasted into an essay, but it should give you a good start.
