I'm writing an essay about the symbolism of mockingbirds in "To Kill a Mockingbird", but I can't find a quote to use in my intro... and it can't be from the novel. The quote needs to apply to the idea of mockingbirds being innocent people who are kinda destroyed by evil. O.o Help would be nice :)

  1. Jim and Boo were considered the Mockingbird's.  Jem and Scout were not allowed to shoot the Mockingbird because it made music (it was harmless) as Atticus had told them.  Jim and Boo were also harmless, however the community felt otherwise.

  2. you may shoot as many bue jays as you want, if you can, but it is a sin to kill a mocking bird. this quote from the book basically says that is is fine to be mean to blacks but it is a sin to harm a white man. Just base a quote upon that

  3. There is a qoute that goes something like "Even roses have thorns" so that one might work.  Also consider quotes such as "Every cloud has a silver lining".
