Oval track race car?

My car is tight on entry and loose on exit... I run 110 pounds of bite on the left rear, will it be too much to try 150? What else can I try?? I run 3 wheel brakes about four rounds off the rear but I want to run 4 wheel to let the suspension turn the car in but the car is too tight on entry. Any suggestions?? I run 3 inches of stagger across the rear. I also have 1/8" toe out.

The car is a limited modified... It is 2350 pounds and uses a 80's metric GM chassis.

  1. Tight on entry and loose on exit? Well, you're spinning the tires. I thought I was tight on entry and loose on exit, but I was so loose I became tight. As soon as you let of the gas you push in a dirt car. Making you feel that your tight, when in essence your setting up for the exit of the corner. In my late model I tried everything when I was "tight on entry and loose on exit." It's in the shocks....trust me. Most times in this situation you're bottoming out the right rear. When that happens, you lose traction on the left rear, forcing all the power on the right rear, making you loose. Knowing your loose in the exit of the corner, makes you let off the gas earlier in entry, making the car push. You need to get about an inch bigger shock on the right rear to get the left rear hooked up. You're bottoming out the right rear. I'm not sure if this worked, but I run a dirt late model, and had the same scenario.

  2. try this.....1/4" toe out, if you are running a 50/50 compression/rebound, try 25 comp/75 rebound. that should pullyour front end better entry, and not laying over so fast your weight transfer makes the rear want to squish out.

This is a good 1/2 mile set alot of imca mods use

  3. I'm just a fan so I can't help you with your question, but I would suggest that if you don't get a satisfactory answer, try putting it on 4m.net or one of the other dedicated racing message boards.  Many have racing tech sections with lots of drivers and crew willing to help.  Good Luck!
