  1. They will do what is called a laprascopy. It means you will have two or three (surgeons preference) ports/trocars/ hollow tubes inserted into your abdomen one at the belly button and one lower kind of at the top of your pubic hair after they fill your belly up with air. Surgeons can then use a camera (it will be long and skinny, like the diameter of a map pencil and as long as your forearm) to look inside your pelvic/abdomen. The other port will allow the surgeon to use specially designed instruments to operate on the cyst. Many times the doctor will use a long thin needle to drain the fluid out of the cyst or they will use scissors and forceps (like tweezers) to cut it off your ovary. You should feel much better after surgery. Ovarian cysts can cause a lot of pain. Be sure and try to walk after the doctor says it's okay, like pace in your house with someone watching you. The air they use to fill up your belly can press on the muscle that helps you breath and cause discomfort, especially in your left shoulder. When you walk it helps your bowels to absorb the air and expel it (f**t). Kind of gross, but it will help you feel better.
