I have read much about the F1 fault code. Most postings indicate that there should be a secondary code (two extra digits) that my oven doesn't display them- just "F1". The oven seems to be very hot when it shuts down almost as if the sensor has failed (control panel is hot to touch).

From my research, I have been pointed in the direction of replacing either a faulty keypad or ERC/ clock. Since the ERC/clock is one unit on this model that narrows the possibilities; however, the ERC/clock board is very expensive compared to the sensor and I have read they don't fail much. Is it worth checking the temperature sensor first. I would probably buy both parts and return the ERC if not installed since this is a rental property and I need to fix it fast for the tenants.

The oven is about 8 years old. Does it make sense to replace the temp sensor even if the problem turns out to be the clock? How long do they last on average?
