I left the oven on for a while, and didn't know it was unplugged. Now it smells a little gassy. Is this a gas leak? If so, what do I do? I'm scared as h**l right now!

  1. usually the gas wont come through if there is no electricity to it, as a safety device, but if that malfunctions i suppose its possible. dont mess with gas.

you should be able to reach behind the stove and turn the gas off. If the smell is very strong, go outside and stay there. call the fire dept from a neighbors house ( or cell phone ) dont use the phone near the gas leak. sparks could come from phone and that will get ugly.

  2. call the gas company right away. They have 24 hours service for suspected gas leaks. no charge.

  3. just open the doors and let the gas dissipate.

  4. gas ovens that use glow bars to light the gas will not let gas into the home when shut down there are two valves that would have to fail at once. Be safe and let somebody look if you feel you should.
