Oven smoking

hi,
hope you can help me!my smeg oven (even after a good clean!) smokes when ever im cooking something.Is there a vent or something which could be blocked or something?!just cooked a roast chicken on a low heat but whenever i open the door to check it theres lots of excessive smoke issuing!!!!could you advise me of this...?many thanks
