I have Edgar Rentaria at short. I have been considering a move for a while now. I had Jerry Harrison Jr. as an occasional starter prior to his injury, but now I'm stuck with the all-or-nothing mentality of Rentaria and the Tigers. Here are the shortstops that are available:

Cristian Guzmán (DC) - consistency and good BA, but sitting in the middle of the stagnant Nationals' lineup.

Jeff Keppinger (STL)- on the DL presently, but could make for a good long-term replacement

Jhonny Peralta (CLE)- When are these Indians going to pick up the pace? Oh yeah, as soon as EVERYONE comes off the DL.

Mike Aviles (KC) - KC's offense is a bit scary, but Aviles' debut has been unbelievably consistent and he has shown some really good power, a rarity at SS this year.

Opinions welcome.

  1. Im going to have to say Guzman. Even though he's in a bad team, he's hitting well and has a better BA than Rentaria. Another guy to consider is Aviles. He's in a better lineup (but its still not a good one) and he's also been hitting well. But right now, I would go with Guzman becaue he's had a .300 AVG since day 1 and I don't know if Aviles will keep it going but if he does, you should consider him.

  2. I think Guzman would be the best out of those if you want consistency. But if you want a hot player right now, Aviles is a better choice. Peralta has lots of homers, but not much else. Keppinger is a contact hitter, so he won't have many homers or rbi's. Guzman is kind of like Keppinger, but will score lots of runs. Aviles is having an awesome debut, but don't count on him to keep it up. Get Aviles for now, when he's doing better than Renteria, then get Guzman when Aviles is struggling, because rookies struggle longer than veterans.
