today is day 38. I know she is pregnant because i can see the babies moving within her when she lays down. I am also certain of the conception date. Is it normal for the mothers to be so over due? Should I take her to the vet? She seems to be just fine. She is eatting and drinking regularly. She lays around a lot and isn't as active butI figured that is due to the pregnancy. I am gettinga l8ittle worried.

Also, she uses her nesting box as a litter box? Will this stop oncethe babies are born? I was told that the mother won"t use the box for that, but she is? I'm really confused.

  1. A doe will use the nest box as a toilet if she is not pregnant. If you are absolutely sure she is bred she need to be seen by a vet, right now. 38 days is way past the normal gestation date.

35 days is the maximum. The longer the kits go the larger they will be and the doe may die trying to kindle(give birth).

Even if she does deliver them they will most likely be dead also.Just trying to force them out when they are large causes them to die of suffocation. The vet can give her a shot to get the kits out of her.

It really sound to me as if she is not pregnant. Most does that have acted this way never deliver any kits. I have never had a doe dirty a nest box and then deliver kits. If she does continue doing it the kits will die. Either give her a new box or take the kits out of her cage once they are born and return them twice a day for her to feed them.

  2. You shouldn't feel babies in a rabbit.

Take her to a vet and stop breeding http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/r...
