Over here help! How hard is epistemology compared to modern philosophy?

I am starting my upper divison courses for the major, and im in an entire new city. So for the sake of taking it slow at first in order to ground myself appropriatley for the new challenges ahead of me, i would like to take THE LEAST DIFFICULT of these classes.

  1. Of course, epistemology would be more enlightening but modern philosophy courses are fairly fluffy or light if your writing skills are adequate.  Much more reading is required with modern philosophy courses than with epistemology, though.


  2. In order to understand "modern" philosophy, however you define that, you will be getting some epistemology along with it. Epistemology applies to all human thought, ancient or modern. Without it we would be less than the apes, because they have it too. It is hard-wired into your brain as a faculty, just like sight and hearing are faculties--but it is a faculty of the mind.

    A class in epistemology might be very difficult for you, but it is difficult for everyone. Yet, you use it every waking minute of your life.

    Take epistemology 101 and discover what it is; then go on from there in what ever direction seems best for you.
