Well, my parents said I could have a TV in my room if I got the service, but they won't give me Dish Network, so I'm getting Over the Air. Is there a service or anything to view coverage or something, or is their a box with a guide and stuff to enhance it? How can I make it most like sattelite/cable? Can I pay like 2 bucks a month for a cable channel? Please tell me all about this.

  1.   I don't really know what you are trying to do. But, total digital TV is just around the corner. It is suppose to offer more channels than regular analog. If our using a regular TV, just buy one of the $60 set top boxes that are in stores now and you'll be "connected" to FREE over the air digital TV. The DTV channel line up is climbing fast, so this may be a possible option for you.

  2. Freeview in Europe is very similar the our Over-The-Air (OTA) broadcast stations. in that it gives you several TV channels FREE.

Cable TV and Satellite cost money. How much depends on the package you get. They both offer a BASIC BASIC package for little money. They start around $15 - 20 a month, but the offerings are limited.

OTA TV is FREE you just need an antenna and a TV set. If it does not have a digital tuner you will need a converter box after Feb. 17th.

With the Digital converter box you will get up to 4 channels for each local station. (If the station wants to broadcast them). OTA TV is Free. The government is even offering coupons to help buy the converter.

  3. Over the air is broadcast TV. You only need an antenna to receive it. It's totally free. There is no way to add cable channels to it.

With OTA, you'll get NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, CW, PBS, ion, and any community broadcast stations. You won't get CNN, ESPN, AMC, MTV, VH1 or any of the other cable channels. The minimum price to get those seems to be around $45-$60. Cable and satellite won't let you add single channels - you have to add big packages of channels for $$$$. Welcome to the wonderful world of pay TV.
